Dave Grove

I have represented my country in World, Commonwealth and European events since 1986 and have been in every commonwealth competition since 1994. Out of them all I can honestly say that the commonwealth is the best and have enjoyed every one of them, not only the fishing and wonderful destinations, but also the people and friends I have made. On behalf of the English team I would like to thank Alan and his team and wish them every success for this championship and for all the hard work they have put into it.

Andy Gooding

Andrew started fly fishing at the age of eight and represented England at the Youth World Fly Casting Championships winning gold in numerous events.

He has since fly fished for England many times and represented England in the European Championships.

This will be his fourth Commonwealth competition and he is looking forward to fishing in Northern Ireland and meeting new and old friends.

John Tyzack

John Tyzack is a professional fly fishing guide and instructor who has been fly fishing for 40 years and represented England at International level for nearly 20 of them.

This is his fourth CFFC following on from Tasmania 2012, England 2014 and Canada in 2016..

Steve Ebdon

I first started fishing when I was 6 on Exeter Canal for perch and bream, drowning maggots etc. On moving to Lympstone near Exmouth on the river Exe I joined Exmouth Sea Angling association and went beach fishing and eventually Deep-Sea fishing where I was too frequently laying ‘ground bait’ for the other anglers, so that put an end to deep-sea fishing.

I was introduced to the ART of Fly-fishing when I was about 20 and join the local Fly-fishing club in our area called KENNICK FLYFISHING ASSCATION (KFFA) and learnt the trade of fly-fishing and fly-tying. After entering lots of completions through KFFA and making it through to our England National on many times, I made the ENGLAND TEAM on two occasions, 2000, and 2003 where I was lucky to of been awarded TEAM GOLD both times.

In 2014 I was asked to be Reserve in the ENGLAND TEAM to fish the Commonwealth Fly-fishing Championships (at short notice) being held in DEVON and CORNWALL, England where the TEAM achieved the SILVER award. I was selected to go to CANADA to fish again and we had a fantastic time but unfortunally not in medal contention. But I must have done something right because the captain has picked me again to go to NORTHERN IRELAND in 2018.

Matt Kingdon

I am born and bred in North Devon and started my fishing journey at the age of seven on local rivers, fly fishing for brown trout.

Fishing has obsessed me since leaving school and I have worked on fish farms and fisheries; now I spend my time growing fish to re-stock some the major English reservoirs.

Last year I represented England for the first time in the loch style team in which we won the gold medal.

I am very much looking forward to my first Commonwealth competition in Northern Ireland.

He is now semi-retired and works as a part time Local Council Clerk and has established his own successful Fly Fishing Guiding & Tuition business, The Durham Fly Fishing Company established in 2010 so I now spend even more time near water!!.

He first qualified for Team England in 1999 and was a member of the Silver Medal England Commonwealth Teams in 2010 (Wales), 2012 (Tasmania), 2014 (England) and fished in Canada in 2016.
