I started Fly Fishing at a young age on the River Loughor and Rowy and fly fishing came along later; now I am teaching the next generation in our local club.

I only started competition fishing and trailing for the Welsh teams some years ago and have represented Wales at the Worlds, European and Commonwealths. This will be my 6th Commonwealths competition and I look forward to renewing friendships with all my friends across the Commonwealth in Northern Ireland in Sep 2018.

Tight Lines to everyone.

I have been fishing all my life, mainly concentrating on river fishing, however in my early 20s, I found myself taking part in Loch style competitions up and down the UK, especially around Welsh reservoirs. I have been fortunate to earn 3 Welsh International Loch Style Caps and 1 Commonwealth cap in Canada so far.

As a school teacher, I consider myself so lucky that I am able to pass on a passion of mine in Fishing to the next generation of anglers and am always looking to support youth development in angling.

I am Captain for my home angling team of Y Gwyniad and still compete in many different competitions of various formats.

I could not be prouder than to lead my country as Captain in only my second Commonwealth Championship. And I'm looking forward to the camaraderie that comes with competing in this amazing competition and the challenges that come along with it. The format of the championship is challenging, can be difficult and yet so much fun! I once dreamed of representing my country, now I'm living that dream.

Best of luck to all competitors and teams, and may the best team win.

I live in Llandeild, south west Wales on the banks of the river Towy where I worked as a water bailiff for over 28 years.

I started fishing at the age of 11 and took up competition fishing in the late 1980’s and since then I have represented Wales at the Worlds, Commonwealths, Lough Style and bank competitions.

This will be my 3rd Commonwealth competition and I am really looking forward to Sep 2018 in Northern Ireland.

I have been fishing since a very early age but mostly sea fishing since I lived on the Lleyn Peninsula, North Wales where the sea was right on my door step. 5 years ago my friend and our captain Carl Williams introduced me to fly fishing and took me on a day out on Llyn Brenig. The thrill of catching my first fish on the fly and learning a new method of catching fish, made me concentrate more on my fly fishing rather than sea fishing.

I started competitive fly fishing two years ago with the fishing team 'Y Gwyniad' on Clywedog reservoir. Been involved and fishing with top Welsh anglers, I gained a vast knowledge of different methods from each boat partner I fished with. During the summer of 2016 I travelled around Canada fishing both the West and East coast and joined the Welsh team as a spectator in the Commonwealth fly fishing championship in Mont-Tremblant. I thought that the different methods of fishing (river/lake) was exciting and decided to trial for the next Commonwealth. After gaining my spot in the team after the Welsh trial, I couldn't believe my luck. I couldn't be more proud of gaining my first Welsh international cap for Wales and the chance to represent my country in the sport I love.

Best of luck to all competitors, TineIlau tyn' (tight lines).
